August 29, 2008, Newsletter Issue #179: Homemade Hummingbird Nectar

Tip of the Week

Mix together 1 cup boiling water with 1/4 cup white sugar until sugar is dissolved. Allow to cool completely before placing in a hummingbird feeder.

Nectar should be replaced a minimum of once a week and more often in the summer. Locate the feeder in a sunny spot if possible. Clean the feeder with a mild detergent and rinse thoroughly each time the nectar is replaced.
