1 pound bulk sausage
1 medium Onion, diced
1/2 cup fresh Mushrooms, sliced
5 Eggs
2 cups Milk
2 cups Cheddar cheese, grated
1 loaf Bread
Brown the sausage, breaking apart as it cooks. Add the onion and mushrooms and cook for another 5 minutes. Set aside.
Lightly whip the eggs and add the milk.
Lightly butter a casserole dish and assemble strata ingredients in the following order:
Single layer of bread
1/2 of the sausage mix + 1/3 of the cheese
Single layer of bread
1/2 of the sausage mix + 1/3 of the cheese
Single layer of bread
Slowly pour egg & milk mixture over the top
Top with remaining 1/3 of the cheese
Refrigerate overnight. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Put casserole dish on a cookie sheet and bake for 1 hour or until lightly browned.
