My daughter wants to make dough ornaments, can you tell me how?

4 cups flour
1-1/4 cups water
1 cup salt
Mix together all ingredients and knead the dough until smooth. Add food coloring if desired. Make shapes and bake at 300 degrees until set and golden (30-60 minutes). After the shapes have cooled, you can seal them with shellac. For a more golden appearance, you can paint the cooked dough with a beaten egg.
